Lindsay Lohan Not Happy About A Joke Included In New 'Mean Girls' Movie

Lindsay Lohan has opened up about not being happy with a joke that was made in the new 'Mean Girls' movie musical. 

She starred as Cady Heron in the original 'Mean Girls' (2004), and joined writer and former costar Tina Fey at the premiere to support the new film. 

A representative for the star revealed that she wasn't a fan of a line of dialogue that mentioned "fire crotch."

"Lindsay was very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film."

In the film, Megan Thee Stallion shows up in social media montages, and at one point, says about Cady (played by Angourie Rice), and her talent show outfit, "Y2K fire crotch is back."

The reference is a nod to a 2006 paparazzi video where Brandon Davis referred to Lindsay as a "fire crotch."

Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms. Norbury, as well as returning as screenwriter and producer, and prior to the film being released, she opened up about Lindsay's surprise appearance. 

"Paramount was like, 'Can you get any of the original ladies? And I was like, 'I can't fit five people in.' I felt like if I could only get one person as a surprise, the original movie is really Lindsay's movie. As great as they all are, she's the heart of that movie."

"And I thought, well, what could she do? I didn't think [she should] play a teacher. I was trying to think of something that you wouldn't expect. And just to have her do that late in the movie, it also feels like it comes, I hope, at a time where fans weren't expecting one more little surprise. It also lets her be smart, which Cady is."

She also opened up about eliminating some jokes after the dialogue proved problematic in the 20 years since the original premiered. 

"I was writing in the early 2000s very much based on my experience as a teen in the late ’80s. It’s come to no one’s surprise that jokes have changed. You don’t poke in the way that you used to poke. Even if your intention was always the same, it’s just not how you do it anymore, which is fine."

"I very much believe that you can find new ways to do jokes with less accidental shrapnel sideways."

Angourie opened up about sharing screen time with Lindsay, revealing it "meant so much to me."

"It is such a rare experience to really get in the head of a character and then meet someone who's done the same thing. Just to have that shared experience, it means a lot. Sometimes acting can be a lonely job. You get in the head of a character and then you have to say goodbye to it, and you feel like you've abandoned it."

"But to know that Cady has been a part of so many actors' lives and so many actors have delved into that character — she's bigger than the actor in a way. It means a lot that I get to share that with so many special performers, especially Lindsay."

'Mean Girls' is in theatres now.
