Joyce Randolph Dead At Age 99

Best known for her role in 'The Honeymooners,' Joyce Randolph has passed away at age of 99. Her son, Randolph 'Randy' Richard Charles, shared the news. 

She was the last surviving cast member of the beloved 1950s sitcom, on which she played Trixie Norton. 

He character was married to Ed Norton (Art Carney), neighbours to Ralph and Alice Kramden (Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows). 

It follows Kramden and Norton as they "struggle to strike it rich while their wives look on with weary patience."

Joyce was born in Detroit to a Finnish-American family, and arrived in New York City in 1943, acting on Broadway, in commercials, an TV programs, which included 'Buck Rogers' and 'The Clock.' 

After noticing her in a Clorets gum commercial in 1951, Gleason took a liking to her, featuring her in his variety show, 'Cavalcade of Star,' then casting her as Trixie on 'The Honeymooners.'

Longtime fan Matthew Broderick opened up about the sitcom, saying that "every situation human beings can have is in one of these shows.”

“From these four characters springs everything."

He also shared his impression of Joyce, having met her earlier in life. 

"You would think that Trixie Norton would be some kind of battle-ax in person, but Joyce is so elegant and thin and pretty.”

Later in life, Joyce appeared as Trixie in 'Hi Honey I'm Home' in 1991, a meta-series that features iconic sitcom alumni often. 

She also appeared in one episode of 'The Doctors and the Nurses' in 1964, and had a small role in 'Everything's Jake' in 2000. 

Joyce is survived by her son Randy.
