Charlie Sheen, and Brooke Mueller have mutually agreed to change the custody details regarding their sons, 14-year old twins.
Court documents state Charlie requested joint physical and legal custody, and was granted the emergency request with conditions, including him "immediately" assuming "sole legal custody" of his sons Bob and Max, "in the event Brooke tests positive” for drugs or alcohol.
Paperwork revealed the children mostly reside with Charlie while Brooke received "reasonable and flexible periods” of custody and visitation.
She would need to test for drugs and alcohol as often as required by the probation officer, within 24 hours of a written request, either from Charlie or his attorney.
Charlie will keep providing additional financial assistance to Brooke occasionally, but won't sign any new lease or month-to-month extension for any home.
He will also continue to pay her rent at her current residence while she is clean and sober.
The two previously agreed to the conditions in formal documents back in November 2022 and August 2023.
Charlie was provided with permission to file an ex parte motion, meaning the request was granted without response from Brooke. Charlie has not clarified why he chose to request these changes.
Documents specified Charlie and Brooke signed the second modification in August 2023, one month after she "relapsed and engaged in abusing alcohol and controlled substances.”
The two have faced various ups and downs, exchanging vows in 2008, welcoming their twins a year later, and ending their marriage in 2010.
Over the years, they have both also struggled with addiction. Brooke voluntarily entered into a treatment centre in August 2019, after multiple drug related incidents.
After she left the centre, the two continued working on coparenting their children.
Charlie has recently revealed he is six years sober.
“I’ve mostly been raising my 14-year-old boys. Their mom has been trying to figure some stuff out on her end, so she’s not in the picture too much right now.”
He has also joked that his sons don't care he's an actor.
“It doesn’t matter, whatever we’re doing that might be important and connected to our job, or some high brow moment of responsibility, the kids don’t care.”
