Alec Baldwin Indicted Again On Involuntary Manslaughter Charge

Alec Baldwin has been indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges for a second time, in connection with the death of Halyna Hutchins, which occurred on the set of the star's film 'Rust.'

It was confirmed recently, over two years after Hutchins died. The victim was 42 years old in October 2021, when the incident occurred.

At the time, Alec fired a prop gun on set, which was loaded with real bullets.

His attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said, "We look forward to our day in court."

If the movie star is convicted, he is facing up to 18 months behind bars.

Initially, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter in January 2023, pleading not guilty a month later.

The charges were dropped in April 2023.

At the time, his attorneys said, "We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident."

Throughout this time, Alec has maintained his innocence, even though he held the weapon that killed Hutchins.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them. Never. I have no idea [how a bullet got in there]. Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”

After an independent investigation into the gun, it was reported that the manslaughter charges could be refiled.

The investigation results showed the gun had not malfunctioned and the trigger had to have been pulled for the weapon to fire.

A court report filed by the Forensic Science Services of Arizona said, "The fired evidence cartridge is the consequence of a normal hammer fall from the fully cocked position of the hammer."

The report is part of the defence against 'Rust' armourer Gutierrez Reed, who has pleaded not guilt to involuntary manslaughter and tampering with the weapon charges.

After the victim's death, Alec was named in a February 2022 wrongful death lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of her husband, Matthew Hutchins, and their son.

An undisclosed settlement was reached by October 2022.
