Hayden Hurst Diagnosed With Post-Traumatic Amnesia

Football player, known best as the Carolina Panthers tight end, Hayden Hurst has opened up about the serious head injury he recently suffered.  

It was confirmed that he had post traumatic amnesia in connection with the hit he received during a Panthers-Chicago Bears game on November 9th. 

“I appreciate everyone reaching out & checking on me. I suffered a pretty nasty concussion against the Bears a few weeks ago & don't remember up to 4 hours after the game. Scary situation but the Panthers have been incredible walking me through this process.”

“While it was scary, it is NOT career ending. I'm starting my return to play this week, so fingers crossed I make it back for the last few weeks! God Bless & Keep Pounding !!!!”

He returned to the game after he suffered the injury, according to sources, but a day later, he was placed on concussion protocol. 

He was then termed "limited" for his first practice, but it remains unclear when he will return to the game. 

He has been sidelined and is hoping to return on December 17th for a home game against the Atlanta Falcons, or a week later against the Green Bay Packers.

The Panthers' interim coach Chris Tabor said Hayden is "progressing."

Post-traumatic amnesia "is a temporary state of confusion and memory loss that occurs following a traumatic brain injury. During this period, the individual may have difficulty forming new memories, recalling past events, or understanding their surroundings," according to Yale Medicine. 

The football star is currently in his first season at Carolina. He previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, and Baltimore Ravens. 

He was drafted No.# 25 overall by the Ravens in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This year, he has played nine games and has 18 receptions for 184 yards, along with one touchdown.

His dad, Jerry Hurst, broke the news about the extent of his injury.
