TLC Announces 2024 Australian Tour
90s R&B girl group TLC have announced they will be touring Australia next year, on a five-city tour that coincides with the 30th anniversary of 'CrazySexyCool.'
Supporting acts include Busta Rhymes and En Vogue, and TLC will begin the tour in Melbourne on March 2nd, before heading to Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.
The two current members are Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas.
“I’m so excited to return to Australia! This is the album that put us on the map with Aussie fans and showed the world who we really are,” Chili said.
“And to mark 30 years, this will be quite the celebration!”
'CrazySexyCool' sold over 85 million records worldwide, reaching the Top 5 on Aussie charts. It also remained in the Top 100 for 76 weeks.
The album featured tracks including, 'Waterfalls,' 'Creep,' 'No Scrubs,' 'Unpretty,' 'Diggin’ On You,' 'Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg,' and 'Red Light Special.'
TLC is still the best selling US girl group of all time, gaining four Grammy Awards and four releasing four multi-platinum albums. Two of these went Diamond.
In 2002, the group experienced tragedy when bandmate Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes passed away in fatal car accident weeks before her 31st birthday.
It took place while she was filming a documentary in Honduras. This was later released as 'The Last Days of Left Eye' in 2007.
While promoting a two hour documentary, 'Biography: TLC,' T-Boz spoke about Left Eye’s death and how they coped.
“We didn’t want people coming up, saying, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry.' And I know that they meant well, but when you’re in pain, you just don’t wanna hear any of that.”
“It took me a long time to refer to her in the past [tense], because I couldn’t believe it. And I think it has so much to do with, when you’re young like that, you think you’re invincible.”
