Stephen Fry Rushed To Hospital

Actor Stephen Fry has been rushed to hospital following a fall from stage in London, where he tumbled to the floor. 

He is set to present Channel 9's new game show 'Jeopardy!' next year.

He was giving a speech at an AI/Tech festival in east London when the incident happened.

He was exiting the stage when he tumbled two metres to the floor, sustaining rib and leg injuries before being taken to hospital.

It's remains unclear if he is still in hospital. It was reported he was taken away in a wheelchair.

“It looked like it was too dark and there didn’t look like there was a handrail. He fell two metres to the floor."

In a statement, the London Ambulance Service said, "We were called today at 11:31am to reports of an incident at the O2 Arena, in Peninsula Square."

“We sent a medic in a fast-response car, an ambulance crew, and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a man for rib and leg injuries before taking him to hospital.”

The festival has since launched an inquiry into the fall. "We were deeply concerned to hear of Stephen’s accident after giving his inspirational speech on the impact of AI."

“We are thinking of him and wishing him a swift recovery. We have opened our own inquiry and until then we are not able to share any further details.”

Greenwich Council are also looking into the incident.

One person who paid to attend said “Thank you for the superb talk at CogX. I hope you are OK also after a tumble."

The event had over 500 speakers and ran over three days. It’s understood around 90,000 attended.
