NSYNC Reunite & Announce New Music
It's official! NSYNC have reunited for the first time in a decade.
Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick reunited onstage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards to present the first award of the night.
"Hello VMAs! Over 20 years ago… we won Best Pop Video for ‘Bye Bye Bye.' It was our first VMA and it meant the world to us. That award validated our hard work."
"Now, we just wanted to say thank you MTV and especially all of you. Thank you so much each and every one of you."
The group proceeded to give out the award for Best Pop, with Justin awarding the trophy to "the unstoppable" Taylor Swift for 'Anti-Hero.'
Other nominees were Demi Lovato with 'Swine,' Dua Lipa with 'Dance The Night,' Ed Sheeran with 'Eyes Closed,' Miley Cyrus with 'Flowers,' Olivia Rodrigo with 'Vampire,' and P!nk with 'TRUSTFALL.'
The reunion marks 10 years since they last played music together, having appeared at the 2013 MTV VMAs, singing a medley of hits including 'Girlfriend,' and 'Bye, Bye, Bye.'
That year, Justin Timberlake was also honoured with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
In 2019, JC, Lance, Joey, and Chris suprised fans at Coachella, joining Ariana Grande onstage to perform 'Tearin' Up My Heart.'
Justin was on his 'Man of the Woods Tour' at that time.
Lance has previously hinted the group weren't saying bye to joining together again.
"We've been talking about it. No plans have been made. If there will even be plans, who knows? I think if we did anything, it would be for the fun of it—the world needs something fun to listen to and I think we could bring some positivity to it. That's what we need right now. It could be something simple to test it out, and if it works, it works and if it doesn't, it doesn't."
This isn't the only huge news to come out of the group either. They also released new music for the first time in over 20 years.
The band began their career in 1995 and quickly became one of the biggest music groups leading up to the millennium. The success ended in 2001 when they parted ways for other projects.
They took to social media recently to share a clip of them working on new music in the studio. The song is called 'Better Place' and it's out now.
The video included some snippets of the new song, which was released on September 29th.
The almost two-minute video shows all five members working through a mix in a studio. Justin can be seen behind the mixing desk, hinting he might have also produced the new song.
It also shows footage of Chris, JC, Lance, and Joey in the studio and recording booth.
"If we do this song, it's a love letter to our fans. I would be honoured to have the group on this song."
The video ends with Justin saying "I love you guys. That's ... epic man."
The video went viral, gaining over 600,000 views on X (formally Twitter), over 4,400 retweets and 88,500 likes on Instagram.
'Better Place' is featured on the soundtrack for Universal Studios movie 'Trolls Band Together,' starring Justin Timberlake as a voice actor. It will be released on November 17th.
