'The Bachelorette' Australia Star Dead At Age 36

Charlie Newling, known for starring on 'The Bachelorette' in 2018, has been found dead at the age of 36, weeks after welcoming a daughter.

He was reportedly found by police in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Paramedics attempted to revive him but he was unable to be saved.

A NSW police spokesperson confirmed police attended the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

It’s understood he welcomed a baby girl two months ago with partner Kristal Taylor. They had been in a relationship since at least January 2021.

He also has a 13-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Finding fame on Ali Oetjen’s season of 'The Bachelorette,' he quickly became a frontrunner. He was let go after refusing to introduce Oetjen to his family during hometown visits, wanting to wait until they were "exclusive."

After the show, he briefly dated fellow 'The Bachelor' contestant Dasha Gaivoronski, who was on Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins’ season. He then had a fleeting romance with influencer Esme DeWitt in 2019.

Not long after he left the show, he made headlines for being forcibly removed by security guards from a pub in Sydney. He later admitted to being intoxicated during the incident. In 2021, he was convicted of low-range drink driving.

In September 2022, he was given a 13-month prison sentence after being charged with using a carriage service to make threats. He was also accused of sending up to 37 text messages to his mother in April, where he repeatedly threatened to kill her husband.

During the trial, his lawyer defended him by saying he’d struggled with alcohol abuse.

Magistrate Ross Hudson acknowledged he suffered childhood trauma, including having to care for his biological father who became paraplegic when he was a teenager. His father died in 2018 from an overdose of pain medication.

However, the Magistrate decided the messages would have caused "fear, torment and horror" for his mother and stepdad.

He spent one month in custody, leading to the sentencing. His sentence was ordered to be serviced in the community by way of an intensive correction order.
