Gabriel Guevara Arrested On Sexual Assault Charges

Spanish star Gabriel Guevara has been arrest on sexual assault charges while at the Venice International Film Festival. 

He starred in Prime Video's 'My Fault (Culpa Mía), and was arrested at the festival by state police. The arrest warrant came from France, and the Venice court of appeals is expected to issue a ruling soon.

The Venice Film Festival clarified the charges weren't related to anything that took place at the event.

“Following the news articles which have been emerging on various websites, regarding the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara being arrested in Venice, the Biennale hereby clarifies that his presence in Venice was not linked to any events or productions related to the 80th Venice International Film Festival."

The arrest came one day before he was set to receive a 'Best New Actor' award for 'Finding Italy.' The organisation claimed they weren't moving forward with the honour.

Gabriel is son of French actress Marlène Mourreau and Cuban dancer Michel Guevara. Raised in Spain, he first found fame in 2018 starring in two seasons of 'Skam España. 

However, his career exploded after Prime Video’s 'My Fault' premiered in June.

The franchise follows Noah (Nicole Wallace) after her mother moves in with a new, wealthy husband. Noah finds herself butting heads with new street racer stepbrother Nick (Gabriel). They then start a steamy affair with each other.

“I was quite surprised because I didn’t expect such a big fandom,” Gabriel recently said. “It seemed crazy to me and the truth is that I feel very grateful for all the support they are giving me.”

The film became a smash hit, and Prime Video confirmed two sequels; 'Your Fault (Culpa Tuya)' and 'Our Fault (Culpa Nuestra).' The company's Instagram accounts noted both films were in production and shooting simultaneously.
