Cause of Death Revealed For Jimmy Buffett

The cause of death for Jimmy Buffett has been released, and it was revealed he died following a lengthy health battle. 

Jimmy passed away on September 1st at the age of 76, at his home in Long Island. He was surrounded by family and friends. Prior to his death, he had fought Merkel Cell Skin Cancer for four years.

"He continued to perform during treatment, playing his last show, a surprise appearance in Rhode Island, in early July."

Just under two months after he was hospitalised for what was described as "issues that needed immediate attention," Jimmy joined Mac McAnally onstage at his outdoor show.

A video from the venue shows Jimmy walking casually onto the stage as Mac performed a cover of Alan Jackson's 'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere.'

"At a moment like this, you can't help but wonder what would Jimmy Buffett do?"

"I would come play for you," Jimmy said, then grabbed a guitar and joined Mac to finish the song.

They then performed several other songs including, 'Cheeseburger in Paradise,' 'A Pirate Look at Forty,' and 'Come Monday.' They ended the set with 'Margaritaville.'

After his death, he received many musician tributes including Paul McCartney, Elton John and Jon Bon Jovi.

We had a real fun session and he played me some of his new songs. One, in particular, I loved was the song, 'Bubbles Up.'"
