Prince Harry & Meghan Markle To Adapt Romance Novel

Archewell Productions, founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has bought 'Meet Me at the Lake,' a romance novel by Carley Fortune, and has plans to adapt it into a movie or TV show.

“The story really spoke to the Sussexes and has a lot of parallels to their own life. Harry and Meghan both think it’s the perfect choice.”

Carley has also confirmed the news.

“I’m thrilled to confirm that I’m teaming up with Netflix and Archewell Productions on the adaption of Meet Me at the Lake. Will and Fern’s love story is dear to my heart, and I can’t imagine a more perfect partnership. Writing this book was a tremendous personal challenge, and to see it recognized in this way is truly incredible.”

'Meet Me at the Lake' is a story about Fern Brookbanks (32) getting a second chance at love with Will Baxter, after meeting him at the wrong time nearly a decade earlier. Though only spending one day together, she couldn’t shake the chemistry, and he comes back into her life almost a decade later when she’s stuck running her mom’s lakeside resort with her ex-boyfriend.

The novel immediately topped the bestseller list for the New York Times' for its print paperback fiction.

Harry and Meghan are expected to produce an adaption for Netflix, as part of the $100 million deal they signed in September 2020.

So far, Archewell Productions have brought forward three docuseries, 'Harry & Meghan', 'Live to Lead,' and 'Heart of Invictus.'

An animated series 'Pearl' was in development, however never received the green light for production.

This latest deal comes as reports started circulating the two were struggling with light workloads.

“There’s not too much work right now for either of them, so that does cause some issues of feeling isolated."

“They want to figure out how they can best expand the entertainment side of things.”

Development of this script is likely not to start until the current Writer's Strike is resolved.
