Mandy Moore's Son Diagnosed With Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome

Mandy Moore has opened up following a recent scare, landing her family in multiple doctors offices on July 22nd.

She revealed her two year old son Gus, woke up with an unexplained rash, and it was hard for medical professionals to immediately identify the cause.

"This sweet boy woke up with a crazy rash on Saturday am. We tried to deduce what it could be and did anything to help him find relief from the itch."

She said they brought Gus to a pediatrician, dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist, and he was all "smiles and laughs like the rockstar he is."

Eventually doctors were able to identify the skin condition.

"Turns out it's a viral childhood rash that just spontaneously appears called Gianotti-Crosti syndrome. It's all over his legs and feet (ouch) and the backs of his arms but nowhere else."

Gianotti-Crosti syndrome is a rare skin condition that affects kids through blisters on the legs, butt and arms.

She admitted Gus has a little bit of a healing journey ahead as the only treatment is Benadryl and steroid cream, possibly lasting 6-8 weeks.

"All of that to say, this parenting thing is weird and hard and sometimes you feel so helpless (and yes I'm ever so grateful it's only an itchy skin condition)."

"Kids are resilient and as long as he's smiling through it, we are a-okay."

Mandy is also mother to 9 month old Oscar or "Ozzie," and she has been open about home life not always being easy with two under two.

"Somedays I feel like we're barely above water. The potty training is intense, but we're slowly but surely getting there. I love that someone told me, 'It's not an event, it's a process.'"

What makes it all easier is the sweet bond between the two of them, especially the love Ozzie has for Gus.

"He is enamored with his brother, it is really sweet. He just looks at him with awe and wonder all the time and is his biggest fan. No one makes him laugh more, smile more."
