Arrest Made In Robert De Niro's Grandson's Case

An arrest has been made, with a suspect taken into custody over the tragic death of Robert De Niro's grandson Leandro.

Almost two weeks since his passing due to a suspected overdose, Sofia Haley Marks (20) was arrested on "federal drug distribution charges." 

She was expected to appear in federal court on July 14th.

A spokesperson for NYPD claimed Leandro was found unconscious and unresponsive inside a New York residence on July 2nd, and pronounced dead at the scene.

His mother, Drena announced the death just hours later.

"My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life."

She later addressed more details surrounding her son's death.

"Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him. So for all these people still f--king around selling and buying this s--t, my son is gone forever."

Robert De Niro has also mourned the loss publicly saying he was "deeply distressed" by the death of his grandson.

"We're greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo."
