New 'Priscilla' Movie Slammed By Elvis Estate

Another movie is being made following the success of 'Elvis' last year, however, his estate is not too happy about it. 

'Elvis' by Baz Luhrmann was made in cooperation with the Presley family, however it appears 'Priscilla,' which is expected to be released in October, was not.

It has been directed by Sofia Coppola, starts Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley, and Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley, and has been made based on Priscilla's 1985 book, 'Elvis and Me.'

Priscilla has announced that she's looking forward to the film, also starring Dagmara Dominczyk.

“I am very excited to see the interpretation of my book by the masterful Sofia Coppola. She has such an extraordinary perspective and I have always been such an admirer of her work. I’m certain this movie will take everyone on an emotional journey.”

Elvis married Priscilla in 1967 after meeting during his military service in Germany. They welcomed only child, Lisa Marie in 1968, and ended things in 1972, finalising the divorce in 1973. Lisa lived until the age of 54, passing in January.

Even after the separation, Priscilla remained connected to Elvis' estate, managing Elvis Presley Enterprises for several years after his death in 1977.

After Lisa's death, she filed to contest her daughter's will which included an amendment made in 2016 replacing Priscilla as the trustee with Lisa's eldest children, Riley Keough and the late Benjamin Keough.

Last month, it was revealed the family had "resolved all confusion" around the estate.

“Riley and Priscilla are at peace in their relationship after the very stressful ordeal over Lisa Marie’s trust and estate. There was a lot of back and forth, but they reached a middle ground that makes them both happy.”

Before her death, Lisa and her family were thrilled with the success of 'Elvis,' starring Austin Butler as Elvis and Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla.

“I have seen Baz Luhrmann’s movie Elvis twice now, and let me tell you that it is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely exquisite. Austin Butler channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul beautifully. In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully.”

Shortly before her death, she accompanied Austin to the 2023 Golden Globes, where he won an award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.

Priscilla said the movie was "perfection" during a 2022 interview.

“This is a movie [Elvis] really would have loved, showing who he was, what he was striving for, what his dreams were."
