Kesha & Dr. Luke Agree to Settle Defamation Lawsuit After 9 Years

Kesha and Dr. Luke have agreed to settle their defamation lawsuit, almost nine years later.

“Kesha and Dr. Luke have agreed to a resolution of the lawsuit, and have agreed to issue and post a joint statement regarding that resolution."

Kesha stated that "only God knows what happened" the night she claimed Dr. Luke assaulted her in 2014.

She said she cannot recall "everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”

Back in 2014, she accused him of allegedly assaulting her in 2005, after waking up in his bed “sore and sick with no memory of how she got there.”

She filed a lawsuit against him claiming he threatened to “shut her career down” if she ever mentioned the alleged assault.

Dr. Luke has continued to deny the allegations and has fought back with a defamation suit against her.

His lawyer explained the allegations were part of a "campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements."

Kesha dropped the lawsuit in 2016, prioritising her music career instead.

“Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label. We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible.”

Sr. Luke however, continued on with his lawsuit which was set to go to trial in July, prior to the joint statement.

“While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years.”

“It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”
