Kelsea Ballerini Hit With Object, Exits Stage
Kelsea Ballerini has been hit in the face during a concert, when an audience member threw an object, which seemed to be a bracelet, at her.
A video circulated of the incident, where Ballerini paused the performance of 'If You Go Down (I'm Going Down Too)' as band members flooded to see if she was okay. Several seconds later, she left the stage.
She later returned after a costume change, and addressed the incident before starting her next song.
“Can we talk about what just happened? All I care about is keeping everyone safe. So, if you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know. There’s security everywhere tonight. If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling or anything. Always flag it.”
“Don’t throw things. I always want shows of mine — every show, for every artist, but I’m in control of this one — I just want it to be a safe place for everyone. We have little kids here. Can you help me do that tonight, please?”
This incident took place just days after Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a phone, sharing photos a day later of a stitched-up injury and black eye saying, “I’m good.”
Nicolas Malvagna, identified as the fan who threw the phone, was arrested and charged with assault. During his arraignment, he claimed to be participating in a TikTok trend where you throw a phone at a celebrity so they'll take a selfie with it, then pass it back.
“As a fan, Mr. Malvagna’s sole intention was to have Ms. Rexha take photos with his phone and return it as a keepsake. It was never his intention to injure Ms. Rehxa.”
He was released without bail after the arrest, and is expected back in court on July 31st.
Ava Max was performing in LA days after, when a fan climbed the stage and struck her face.
“He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again.”
Earlier this week, P!nk also had a strange encounter, while performing in London, when a fan threw a big of ashes on the stage.
"Is this your mom?! I don’t know how I feel about this!” She then proceed to place the bag down on the floor before continuing her performance.
Kelsea has now given an update into how she's doing since the incident.
“Hi. I’m fine. Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye, and it more so just scared me than hurt me. We all have triggers and layers of fears way deeper than what is shown, and that’s why I walked offstage to calm down and make sure myself, band and crew, and the crowd all felt safe to continue.”
“That’s all I ever want, is for shows to feel like a safe place for us all. I love you and appreciate all of the concern, let’s make the last two shows of the Heartfirst tour the best yet.”
In a story, she shared screenshots of comments theorising the fan threw the bracelet because of the artist's politics.
“It’s sad that this happened but maybe she should stay true and not go woke."
Another claims she shouldn’t have posted about the incident as there were “no stitches.”
She responded to these saying, “Also just gonna leave this right here. A sad, scary world we live in.”
