NRL Star Admits to Cocaine Possession

Brett Stewart, retired NRL star has pleaded guilty to the possession of cocaine after being spotted by police, attempting an illegal drug deal in Sydney.

The former Sea Eagles champion was spotted during a suspicious interaction at Manly, around 7PM on March 10th.

After identifying and watching him on Eustace Street, officers became aware he had been involved in a drug deal. It was confirmed after they found a small bag of cocaine in his possession.

Not even two months after the occurrance, Brett appeared in Manly Local Court to finalise the charge.

He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the charge of possessing a prohibited drug.

Magistrate Robert Williams found him guilty of the offences, however didn't convict him.

He was instead released on a nine-month conditional order where he is required to abide by the law and not commit any further offences.

He will be restricted by this 'good-behaviour' bond until February 3rd, 2024.

The sports star made his NRL debut in 2003 for the Manly Sea Eagles, where he won two premierships in 2008 and 2011.

He has played 233 games for the team during his 13-year career which ended upon retirement due to recurring injuries in 2017.

He has also represented Australia in international matches and has played for NSW.

He has been named the sixth-highest try scorer in NRL history.
