Coldplay Breaks Aussie Record

Coldplay have attracted some controversy ahead of their visit to Australia, with fans complaining they couldn't buy tickets, or get close, for their stadium showcase when presales opened on Monday morning.

The band announced the Australian leg of the tour in November, for one show in Perth.

Being the first show since December 2016, when the band played five stadium dates across three cities.

During the previous tour, Perth fans were shut-out, but due to arrangement between Live Nation and Tourism WA, they'll be the only city to get to see the band as part of the Music of The Spheres World Tour.

Tickets are already being resold by buyers, several posts appearing online since the presale begun.

Ticketmaster confirmed 300,000 people were waiting in the queue for tickets.

This was a record for Australian online ticketing queues.

Coldplay received many angry messages from fans for holding the only Aussie show in the most remote city.

A second Perth show has now been announced after the explosive demand.

The announcement was made on social media on Monday morning after the high demand for pre-sale tickets.

“Due to incredible demand, a second Perth show has been added for November 19,” a Twitter post said.

Tash Sultana, Australian multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter will be the main support, along with Thelma Plum, each performing standalone sets before Coldplay takes the stage.

Amy Shark has been confirmed as the support for the second show.
