"Batman's not a hero. He's a complicated character. I don't think I could ever play a real hero - there's always got to be something a little bit wrong. I think it's because one of my eyes is smaller than the other one," said Robert.
After his casting of the character was confirmed, Robert received some backlash surrounding him not being right for the role, but that criticism never bothered him.
"To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It's much more fun when you're an underdog. There's no expectation of you."
Much like Robert, director Matt Reeves decided to go in a different direction and try something new for the film.
"I felt that we've seen lots of origin stories. You can have it be very practical. But I also thought it could be the most emotional Batman movie ever made."
Originally, The Batman was scheduled to hit theatres on June 25th, 2021, but due to COVID-19, it was rescheduled to October 1st, 2021.
A crew member contracted COVID-19 in September 2020, which pushed the production and release date once again. The film is now scheduled for release on March 4th, 2022. |
