Princess Beatrice's Daughter Gets A Title, But Princess Eugenie's Son Does Not

Princess Eugenie's son doesn't have a royal title, but it seems like her sister Princess Beatrice's newborn daughter may get one.

Beatrice welcomed her first child alongside husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi recently. And although there is yet to be a name release, it has become likely that a royal title may be a part of it.

The reason is not because Princess Beatrice is Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter. 

Edoardo comes from Italian aristocracy, so when Princess Beatrice wed him in 2020, she became an Italian "Contessa" and "Nobile Donna" or "noble woman."

Edoardo's father is Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Edoardo will be inheriting his family's ancestral seat.

"Edoardo is the only male descendant taking the family into the next generation. He is a count - his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna." Edoardo's father stated.

It is a tradition that royals are granted their nobility on their wedding days by the monarch. Prince Harry received dukedom on the day he married Meghan Markle. This made them the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Similarly, Prince William received his nobility on the day he married Kate Middleton, making them Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Beatrice and sister Eugenie have kept their royal status but were not granted titles by the Queen. Because of this, Princess Eugenie's son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank didn't inherit a royal title upon his birth.

Princess Beatrice name was previously styled as "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York." Now that she is married, York will be dropped, as it is a reference to her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duke and Duchess of York.

She is now styled as "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi." In October 2018, Princess Eugenie underwent a similar change. She is now "Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank."

Prince Andrew refuted he demanded titles for "any future husbands" of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in 2016. He said he just wanted his children to be considered "modern, working young women who happen to be members of the royal family." 

Buckingham Palace recently released a statement announcing the birth of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo's daughter.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London."

The statement noted she weighed "6 pounds and 2 ounces" and continued, "The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care."

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and. the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf." 

Princess Beatrice also tweeted the big news.

Princess Beatrice is already stepmother to Edoardo's son Wolfie who he shares with joint custody alongside ex Dara Huang.

"Edo is easily one of the best dads, he is so involved, and Beatrice is already showing that she's a fantastic step-mummy. They've been on family vacations together with his son. They are really happy," revealed an inside source.

Another insider has revealed that Beatrice has "embraced Wolfie as part of her life from the outset."
