Tom Brady Mourns The Death Of Teammate David Patten

Many NFL colleagues and teammates are mourning the untimely death of wide receiver David Patten, after he was killed in a motorcycle accident on September 2nd.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson explains the driver of the motorcycle was identified as David Patten (47). He was travelling west when he struck a vehicle travelling east. The other vehicle proceeded to sideswipe another vehicle.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle were not injured, the driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.

Patten was known as a three-time Super Bowl champion and a New England Patriots player. He has been mourned by ex-Patriots player Tom Brady.

"The consummate professional. RIP my friend. My love goes out to David's family." Tom shared to his Instagram story.

Robert Kraft, Patriots chairman and CEO, released a statement explaining he was "heartbroken" over the loss.

"He was a devout Christian who followed his passion following his football career and founded his own ministry. David transitioned from an undersized and understated wide receiver to a powerful and passionate preacher. In New England, he will always be remembered as a three-time Super Bowl champion."

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that David's "work ethic, positive energy and character" were "elite" and he was "grateful" to play a part in his NFL career.

David also played for the New Orleans Saints, Washington Football Team, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. He retired in 2010.

On his Instagram, he is described as a motivational speaker, entrepreneur and minister.
