Simu Liu, the star from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has stated he hopes to be able to join Marvel's other heroes and become part of a future Avengers movie.

He has recently become Marvel's first Asian lead, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings premiering on September 3rd.

This film is the next chapter in Phase 4 of the MCU.

Simu has previously been open about his passion for the Marvel universe. He has tweeted about wanting to play the titular character well before he was cast in the film.

He also proceeded to express his excitement over the first teaser poster and the trailer which dropped on his birthday.

He has also explained where he like to see his character go next. He has said he would enjoy teaming up with Spider-Man in an adaptation of the Spider-Island storyline.

He has expressed interest in appearing alongside heroes such as Captain America, Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange.

He has also recently explained how he prepared for the fame that would come with playing the role he did. He is currently unaware of future possibilities.

"In terms of what's next, I know what's on my mind is the same as what's on everybody else's mind, and hopefully, there's an Avengers in the future, somewhere. Obviously, I don't know anything about that, but being such a big fan of the whole franchise, I know that that's the gold star."

Liu's comments come soon after Kevin Feige has announced that Shang-Chi will be returning to the MCU shortly. The producer and president of Marvel Studios have promised that "Now that people have met and seen the origin story of Shang-Chi, it is safe to say he will have a great influence on the future."

Feige has also reported that the future of the Avenger in the MCU is coming, and that Phase 4 will ask "What does it mean to be an Avenger?" It follows the departure of Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame.

It also follows Sam Wilson taking up the shield as Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Feige has also brushed away hopes of a team-up in the near future as they are still figuring out the line-up and needed time to create an Avengers-level event.

Even though he may have to wait, Simu is passionate about becoming part of the MCU. He also hopes to make an MCU musical and has revealed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings holds grounds for a sequel. He is though, currently unaware when he'll become the character again.
