Princess Diana Remembered 24 Years After Death

The Royal Family is remembering Princess Diana 24 years after her death.

Charles Spencer, her brother, flew the flag at half-staff above the Althorp House Northamptonshire.

In a post on Instagram, he showcased the flag sitting comfortably above the home in which he and Diana grew up.

Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997. She was 36 years old.

Fans were also reminded that Charles, the ninth Earl Spencer, planted 36 oak trees, to symbolise her untimely death, and mark each year of her life. They are growing nicely at the family estate.

Prince William spent the day in private, accompanied by Kate Middleton and his three children Prince George (8), Princess Charlotte (6), and Prince Louis (3).

Fans of Princess Diana have also been paying tribute by laying flowers and messages outside the gates of her London home, Kensington Palace, and some went to see her statue, commissioned by Prince William and Prince Harry.  

The normal opening times to see the statue are Wednesday through to Sunday, but Historic Royal Palaces specifically opened it Tuesday, 31st August from 3-5pm U.K time.
