Oscar De La Hoya Is Hospitalised With COVID-19

Despite being fully vaccinated, Oscar De La Hoya has been hospitalised with COVID-19.

The boxer shared the information on Instagram in a video that showcased him in a hospital bed on September 3rd saying, "What are the chances of me getting COVID? I've been taking care of myself and this really, really kicked my ass."

Due to this, Oscar will no longer be competing against former UFC champion Vitor Belfort in a comeback match. It was scheduled for September 11th. This would have been his first time competing professionally since 2008.

His prognosis was positive.

"I am currently in the hospital getting treatment and am confident I will be back in the ring before the year is up. God bless everyone and stay safe."

ESPN has revealed that Evander Holyfield, who hasn't competed since 2011, is set to step in for Oscar De La Hoya.

The fight will be taking place at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood and will air on Triller.

Ryan Kavanaugh, Triller boss has said, "Heavyweight fights are always the most exciting clashes, and this is a heavyweight fight between two true warriors. We really wish Oscar a speedy recovery, he's a champion and a warrior; we know he'll fight this and win. We look forward to seeing him in the ring on the anniversary of Fight Club's launch."
