Channel Seven shocked Australia by spending $10 million on superstar coaches for The Voice instead of keeping on the same icons from previous years.

It has been skepted that one of the superstars will be leaving next year, and a fan favourite is scheduled to reappear.

Rita Ora, current coach could be leaving in 2022 and Delta Goodrem has been selected as the one to replace her.

A source has reported that coach Guy Sebastian has been praying to bring Delta back.

Delta had wanted to join the show when it moved from Channel Nine to Channel Seven but was unable due to "prior commitments."

Now, since it's likely Rita won't be returning next year, Delta sees her opportunity.

"Rita could prove to be an issue for Channel Seven. She's no longer in Australia, and is enjoying her personal life with a new boyfriend, film director Taika Waititi. She's happy. Her return is not currently guaranteed," said the source.

They also stated that Delta's return is "inevitable" as the spin-off The Voice: Generations is in the works.

Delta was a coach on The Voice from season one (2012) to last season (2020). She did, however, take a break for season three (2014).

This year's coaches are Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Keith Urban. Sonia Kruger is host.

Around 1.33 million people from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth tuned in for the first episode of this year's season 10. When including regional viewers, the number jumped to 1.91 million nationally.

This new season has a smaller budget and a simpler format but as Sonia Kruger says, it's "all killer, no filler."

It was reported that Channel Seven slashed budgets to $20 million, half being spent on the superstar coaches.

After Channel Nine was unable to renew the contract after nine seasons, Channel Seven picked up the show. They have also recently announced the spin-off The Voice: Generations.

The spin-off will showcase a "world-first twist" and it will show off musicians and singers from different generations. This could include families, siblings and cousins. They will compete onstage for "Voice Glory."
