Abigail Spencer is now another familiar face expected to return to the scenes of Grey's Anatomy for season 18.

She portrayed Dr. Megan Hunt in seasons 14 and 15 and is expected to reprise her role for the latest season.

Megan is the younger sister of Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). She served in the U.S Army as a trauma surgeon, alongside her brother, Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), and Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson).

She now lives in Los Angeles with Nathan and her son Farouk, a Syrian refugee she began caring for overseas.

It has been reported she will be seen in the premiere of season 18.

Her first appearance in the hit medical drama was episode one of season 14. Her last appearance was in episode 20 of season 15.

She appeared in a total of six episodes.

The news of Abigail's return comes shortly after the announcement that Kate Walsh (Dr. Addison Montgomery) will also be returning for the latest season.

Kim Raver returned for several episodes before becoming a series regular again. Last season also saw the returns of Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd), T.R Knight (Dr. George O'Malley), Chyler Leigh (Dr. Lexie Grey) and Eric Dane (Dr. Mark Sloan).

Abigail first rose to prominence in Mad Men as Don Draper's love interest. She has also recently been seen on ABC's Rebel, Hulu's Reprisal, and NBC's Timeless (season two).

She has gained a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Sundance TV's Rectify.

The season 18 premiere of Grey's Anatomy is scheduled for Thursday, September 30th, 9:00pm on ABC.
