Selma Blair has announced she is in remission from multiple sclerosis (MS) after being part of an experimental stem cell transplant.

This update came exactly two years after her diagnosis in 2018.

"My prognosis is great. I'm in remission."

Blair was treated with a hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation which uses cells derived from bone marrow, peripheral blood or umbilical cord blood.

She has also revealed the treatment is still ongoing.

"It took about a year after stem cell for the inflammation and lesions to really go down, so I was reluctant to talk about it because I felt this need to be more healed. I don't have any new lesions forming."

She has also opened up about changing "cognitively" which was the hardest part of her recovery so far.

She will be giving fans a deeper glimpse into her MS battle in her documentary Introducing, Selma Blair which will be released in theatres on October 15th.

It will also be streaming on Discovery+ on October 21st.

"I really do feel now, with this pandemic, we've all gotten a kind of diagnosis that's incurable. It's called living right now." Everyone has really realised our mortality. It taught me a lot more patience and understanding."

She has previously opened up about her diagnosis and has showed support for Christina Applegate, who has recently revealed her diagnosis with MS.

" I was so scared in life, so to suddenly start to find an identity and a safety in me, and figure out boundaries and time management and energy, I'm having the time of my life. I never really liked life, I do now. Strange, huh?"
