Deputies were called to scene but when they arrived they found the employee had left and gone to the local station in Thousand Oaks, California to report the incident.
A complaint has been filed with the Sheriff's office.
According to police, deputies approached Spears to get her side of the story "but she wouldn't speak with them."
All results of the investigation will be sent to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office where it will be decided whether Britney will be charged or not with misdemeanor battery.
Spears' lawyer Matthew Rosengart has stated the claim was "sensational tabloid fodder."
He said it is "nothing more than an overblown alleged misdemeanor involving a 'he said, she said' about a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever. Anyone can make an accusation. This should have been closed immediately."
Spears has not publicly spoken about the incident but has posted an image on Instagram showcasing a Hans Zatzka painting of a woman with her back pressed against a door. She captioned the image, "She obviously wants privacy." |
