Queen Elizabeth II Visits Prince Philip's Favourite Place

Queen Elizabeth II recently took a little visit to one of her husband Prince Philip's favourite places. Somewhere he spent a lot of his final years.

The Queen left Windsor Castle and decided to make an unannounced visit to her Sandringham estate in Norfolk. This is generally where the royal family will spend time together around Christmas.

She was seen driving around Wood Farm with friend and horse racing manager John Warren.

After retiring from his royal duties in 2017, Prince Philip spent a good amount of time at the five-bedroom Wood Farm home.

At the time, Queen Elizabeth spent her time at Buckingham Palace continuing her duties, while her husband spent his time in the country carriage driving and painting.

"It is certainly true that Wood Farm is the one royal home where the Queen feels she can escape from the pressures of monarchy and being under the spotlight," a source revealed. "There are far fewer of the rituals that govern her life: Philip has seen to that. The staff, for example, do not always have to wear royal livery - and it is the one residence where the Queen is likely to be seen in the kitchen."

The Queen and Prince Philip began isolating at Windsor Castle in March, 2020. During the last year, the couple visited Sandringham in September, after spending their summer at Balmoral in Scotland.

Sadly, Prince Philip passed away at Windsor Castle, and his funeral took place on the castle grounds at St George's Chapel, which is also where he is buried.

Even though the Queen's main residence is at Buckingham Palace, she has been continuing work from Windsor Castle this year, only making select visits to London.

It is so nice to see Queen Elizabeth II making unscheduled visits to her late husband's favourite place. At least he is remembered in a special way to her.
