Iggy Azalea Quits Music

Iggy Azalea has recently announced to fans that she has decided to quit music. This comes after she was accused of "blackfishing."

Earlier this month, the superstar released her latest single 'I Am The Stripclub,' which is where the controversy started.

If you are unaware of the term 'blackfishing,' see the meaning below.

The term 'blackfishing' refers to a white woman pretending to be Black using the combined strength of makeup, traditionally Black hairstyles, and clothing.

For the music for the single, fans speculated Iggy had tried to darken her skin tone which introduced a massive amount of backlash.

Iggy has responded to comments, saying they were "ridiculous" and she denied all accusations she tried changing her appearance.

Iggy noted the only appearance change she made was swapping out her blonde hair for a darker, brunette wig.

"I can't care about something that ridiculous and baseless. I'm wearing a shade 6 in Armani foundation, it's the same shade I've worn for the last 3 years," she explained via Twitter.

Just after the controversy, the star announced she was taking "an indefinite hiatus from music" after she releases her third album End of an Era.

She has yet to address to backlash directly.

"End of an Era is so special to me because after I drop my album next month I am going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I'm feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music."

"I'm excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future. Shifting my energy and focus to what I'm most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you'll continue to support whatever creative projects I'm out here doing."
